We practice exclusively in the areas of climate change, clean energy, and related Indigenous rights. Our clients include domestic and international public and private energy companies, governments, financial institutions, industry associations, Indigenous communities, non-governmental organizations, and other law firms. We are a woman-led firm committed to diversity, anti-discrimination, and an inclusive workplace. We are looking for lawyers with approximately 2 to 5 years of legal experience to join our team. The role will include significant responsibility for energy regulatory matters, including proceedings before the Ontario Energy Board and other work concerning the evolution of Ontario’s energy system, with opportunities to take ownership of files and lead advocacy on issues such as electrification, distributed energy resources, and First Nations participation in energy markets. Successful candidates will also work across the firm’s broader practice, including commercial transactions involving carbon credits, carbon removal, sustainable fuels and environmental attributes, international climate law and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, climate and carbon finance, and legislative and regulatory drafting. Our international work is an important part of the practice. We regularly advise on matters involving the interaction between international climate frameworks, domestic law, commercial arrangements, and emerging environmental markets. The work may therefore engage both public and private international law, as well as Canadian regulatory and commercial law. Excellent drafting and legal writing, careful analysis, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work comfortably with complex and novel issues are integral to the role.
